movement artist
a dance + movement intensive

Applications for co/motion are currently closed.
co/motion is a dance + movement intensive designed to bring together a dynamic group of movement artists in Boston. Our mission is to give dancers, particularly professionals, a space to immerse themselves in great dancing for a week with both opportunities for rigor, as well as space for listening to the body. We explore how we want to show up in community without any tease of a job as a motivator, allowing us pure connections and authenticity in movement. With our programming, we try to eliminate the idea that anyone wanting to attend must require specific background in their training, but rather emphasize diversity in movement.
Each day participants will partake in Somatic Ballet, Contemporary, Upside Down, Contemporary Partnering, and a Creation Lab. Our Creative Content Manager will be on site each day capturing the intensive and providing participants with materials to develop their digital resume.

SUPPORT:
We understand how expenses can quickly add up when attending an intensive. At co/motion we want to do all we can to help those in financial need. No one's education should be limited due to financial concern. We have a few options available for those who are seeking financial assistance:
SCHOLARSHIPS: co/motion has a limited number of scholarships available. Scholarships will be awarded based on need. You can apply for a scholarship in your intensive application. In addition to need-based scholarships, co/motion will offer one partial scholarship to a participant pursuing a career outside of dance, but still actively chasing their passion for movement. This scholarship is called the Fred Moss Scholarship, and honors a close friend and prior participant of co/motion.
HOUSING CONNECTOR: We are so thankful that co/motion can be an experience that calls to artists both within, and outside, the Boston community. Many non-local dancers ability to attend co/motion is restricted by the additional cost of housing. This year, we are trying to connect local and non-local dancers, and act as a liaison, to help participants that are traveling find access to housing. If a local dancers has a spare room and hosts a non-local participant, co/motion will offer the local dancer $100 off their tuition. Both local and non-local dancers interested in this program should email Heather at co.motion.dance.intensive@gmail.com
MEDIA WORK-STUDY POSITION: Each year, co/motion looks for a talented individual with videography experience to fill a media work-study position. The individual should have experience capturing dance on camera, video editing, and should have access to quality filming equipment. Additionally, the work-study applicant will be asked to make a reel covering the day's activities. In return for their work, participants will be able to attend co/motion free of charge. This year, co/motion is honored to welcome back Hannah Laski as our Creative Content Manager.
